CONSULTATION FAQ’S (Please read before requesting a consultation)

HOW CAN I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?
Please contact our office at (843) 471-0529 to complete a phone intake with our staff. The purpose of the intake is to determine whether we may be able to assist you with your case. You can also provide your phone number using the contact form on this website, and we will reach out to you to discuss your case. If we determine we are unable to assist you, we will attempt to provide you with contact information for another attorney who may be able to address your needs.

DO YOU ACCEPT WALK-IN APPOINTMENTS?
We do not take walk-in appointments or questions; you must schedule an appointment ahead of time in order to speak with Stephanie about your matter.

HOW CAN I GET A FEE QUOTE?
We cannot quote fees for a potential case over the phone. Because there are many details that can impact your eligibility for a benefit or the case strategy, you must meet with Stephanie to discuss your case before we provide a fee quote. She will provide you with a fee quote and explain the basis for the fee during the initial consultation.

DO YOU CONDUCT CONSULTATIONS VIRTUALLY OR BY PHONE?
Yes. Right now we are conducting all new client consultations by video call using Zoom, or by phone.

IS THERE A CONSULTATION FEE?
We allocate one hour for the initial consultation, and charge a fee of $105. The consultation fee must be paid regardless of whether we take your case. If you hire our office to assist you within 30 days of the consultation, $100 of the fee will be credited to the total attorneys’ fees for your case.

HOW CAN I PAY THE CONSULTATION FEE?
After completing an intake with our staff, you will be provided a link to schedule an appointment online. At that time, you are required to pay the consultation fee using a credit or debit card to secure your appointment. Alternatively, you may arrange to send a check or money order, or bring cash to the office.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?
You can cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time by using the link provided by email when you scheduled your appointment. Please contact our office if you have any trouble. If you cancel your appointment online, we will refund the consultation fee to your original method of payment.

Within 24 hours of the appointment, you cannot cancel or reschedule your appointment online. Please call our office to let us know you are unable to attend. In such cases, the consultation fee is generally nonrefundable, although we will process a refund in the event of extraordinary circumstances.

WHEN SHOULD I LOG IN FOR MY VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT?
Your consultation time begins promptly at the hour for which you are scheduled. Because we have other appointments scheduled before and after yours, it is important that you arrive to your appointment on time. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you must reschedule for another day. We have other meetings and obligations which are arranged around your appointment, and will be unable to accommodate you if you are extremely tardy. If you are having trouble connecting to the video call, please contact our office for assistance as early as possible.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO HAVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
Please send paperwork from any prior immigration case you may have had. If you have been a crime victim, please send a copy of the incident report relating to your victimization. You may send these documents via email, text message, or regular mail to the office. We ask that you please supply them in advance of your scheduled appointment time so Stephanie can review them ahead of time.

CAN SOMEONE ELSE ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT WITH ME?

If you have a marriage-based case, it is best that both spouses attend the initial consultation.

We ask that you try to log in to the meeting using a single device. Please be aware that if you use more than one device to connect, the meeting will automatically be limited to 40 minutes. If the meeting window closes before the consultation is finished, we will text or email you a link to reconnect.
